CHICAGO, IL — Today Iron Light Labs is announcing the launch of a limited series podcast, 20 for 20 which presents 20 heroic stories in the 20 years since 9/11. The podcast series will begin Thursday, Sept. 2 and be available on all podcast platforms, including iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, and 20for20Podcast.com. The host is Niels Jorgensen, who served as an FDNY firefighter for 21 years until his forced medical retirement due to the leukemia he contracted from cleaning up Ground Zero.

Episodes will post each Thursday, with three being posted on Sept. 2, including an interview with Frank Siller, whose firefighter brother Stephen Siller ran through a closed tunnel with 60 pounds of gear and sacrificed his life to save others. In Stephen’s memory, Frank Siller founded the Tunnels to Towers Foundation, which hosts a New York City 5k that has 40,000 participants each year. Frank is currently walking 500 miles through six states in six weeks to honor the fallen of 9/11. Tunnels to Towers has raised more than $250 million in support of 9/11 families. Additional episodes also include:

  • Mak Hanna, who was part of a team of five civilians that saved more than 50 lives on 9/11.
  • David Braca, whose father, Al Braca, led his coworkers praying into their deaths on the 104th floor.
  • Mariah Mills Jacobsen, who was 16 years on 9/11 and had a premonition that one of her birthparents died in the attacks. At 19 years old she discovers that her birthfather is Flight 93 hero Tom Burnett.
  • John Feal, who had 8,000 pounds of steel drop on his foot in the Ground Zero cleanup and who forced Congress to take care of 9/11 victims (w/Jon Stewart’s help).
  • Sgt. Ted Anderson went in and out of the Pentagon several times to save lives.
  • Actor Robert John Burke, who lost two of his best friends on 9/11 (FDNY’s Paddy Brown and their chaplain Father Mychal Judge) and it inspired him to become a volunteer firefighter, help cleanup Ground Zero for over 100 days, and is still one to this day. The closest modern parallel is the late Pat Tillman.
  • Brian Clark, who was one of only 18 survivors where the South Tower was struck and saved a stranger named Stanley Praimnath’s life (whose now one of his best friends).

The series will offer 20 highly produced, compelling stories from 9/11, posted each week starting Sept. 2.

“September 11, 2001 is etched in our memories as a day of incalculable tragedy, but also superhuman courage,” said ’20 for 20’ host Niels Jorgensen. “With ’20 for 20’ we will be bringing forward stories that explain what happened that day through the eyes of survivors and their families, through the families of those who died, through first responders, and many others directly affected by the events of that day. Each story is incredible and unique. These stories will cause listeners to more fully understand the events, what it felt like being there, what choices were made and why, and how their lives changed. We should never forget 9/11. Our hope is that the ’20 for 20’ podcast series will offer a living testimony for future generations.”
