The Atlantic launches a new podcast, plus Podcasting for Dummies ed.3 now available

  • Sydney podcasting conference OzPod, Sep 8, announces its full program. This coverage includes a photo of your editor’s back.

  • London radio ideas conference Next Radio, Sep 18, announces its full programme.

  • The Atlantic launch their first podcast, called Radio Atlantic. Dual-headed, it also has a music director, Jon Batiste. “Our first show features a discussion about the future of American democracy—and of the American idea itself.”

  • Podcasting for Dummies, the third edition, is now available for pre-order in the United States, Canada, the UK, and Australia (via the US). It’s fully-updated and contains tips on how to “get the gear you need”, “find your podcasting voice”, “find and build an audience”, and “plan your podcast”.

  • Podcaster News reports that NASA launched a podcast, called Houston, We Have A Podcast, in July; though it may have a few weeks off after the weather events there.

  • Mashable publish “6 business podcasts to listen to this fall”; all US titles.

  • A sportsball player called Jim Harbaugh, head coach for a Michigan team that does things with balls in the name of sport, has a podcast of his own now on PodcastOne. A blog post wonders who else in sports-ball should have a podcast. Go sport! Hurray!

  • Mark Asquith writes What I learned from Podcast Movement. “The big players are just as curious as us little guys!”

  • In case you missed it: “I listened to lots of podcasts - and here’s what I learnt” - a piece written by the same person who’s writing this sentence right now. Focuses on length, the benefit of a 'reset’, and the dangers of self-indulgence.
