This article is at least a year old

Wonkybot, the award-winning content company known for creating the best in scripted, cinematic audio shows for kids and families around the world, has announced the launch of its new subscription channel exclusively on Apple Podcasts with the debut of Apple Podcasts Subscriptions.

“We’re thrilled to bring our entire network of award-winning, high quality, cinematic audio series exclusively to Apple Podcasts as this next exciting chapter of podcasting begins,” said veteran kids and family television writer/producer Stewart St John, who is also Wonkybot’s CEO and creator/writer of Wonkybot content.

The new Wonkybot channel launches with the season premiere of Wonkybot’s award-winning superhero adventure series for kids, “Tara Tremendous,” featuring an ensemble cast of over thirty voices, including celebrity guest stars Sarah Douglas from Superman I and II, Hannah Monson from Netflix’ “Glitch” and Deborah Kennedy from Australia’s #1-rated drama “A Place To Call Home.”

The Wonkybot channel also features a lineup of other fan-favorite titles, like the supernatural “Spooky Troop” and the uplifting narrated series “The Owlsteins Rhyme TIme,” and premiere of its new mindfulness-themed series “Following Bliss” as part of its goal to offer content intended to help sooth and comfort the younger-skewing audience.

“While our action-adventure shows are geared for tweens, teens and YA, ‘Following Bliss ‘is part of Wonkybot’s continued dedication to creating screen-free content that uplifts and inspires younger kids,” said Todd Fisher, Wonkybot Co-Founder. “It’s the perfect companion piece to our other new series, ‘The Owlsteins’, which is based on the characters from our narrated rhyming audio series but will feature a full voice cast . The show centers around a good-natured family of owls who share love, positivity and togetherness.”

Other shows rolling out over the summer and throughout the year on the new Wonkybot Channel include sci-fi, time-traveling adventure series “Historynauts,” teen horror series “Tales of Treacherous Things,” sci-fi thriller “Myth,” supernatural-themed “Spooky Troop Mysteries,” and the hotly anticipated “Tara Tremendous” spin-offs “Tremendous Boy,” “Tremendous Girl” and “Priscilla The Witch.” “‘The Weekly Junior’ recently commented that our shows are like comic books for the ears,” added Fisher.

The Wonkybot channel will also update regularly with bonus material and music from Wonkybot shows, composed by company founders Stewart St John and Michael Plahuta. When the platform launches, families will be able to purchase ad-free subscriptions to the Wonkybot Channel for just $3.99 per month. An album of songs inspired by “Tara Tremendous” and “Spooky Troop” will also be available this summer on Apple Music as well as to subscribers to the Wonkybot Channel.

Wonkybot Studios was founded in 2015 by television writer/producer Stewart St John, whose credits include Disney’s “Seventeen Again,” ABC’s “Sabrina: The Animated Series” and Fox Kids’ “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.” Along with founding partners Todd Fisher and Michael Plahuta, Wonkybot launched “Tara Tremendous” as its first scripted audios series which hit #1 in Kids & Family on the Apple Podcasts Charts and went on to win the Parents’ Choice Award for “Best Kids Podcast” in 2020. Wonkybot also created and produced two seasons of teen horror series “Origins Unknown,” which recently won the 2021 Webby Honoree Award for “Best Kids Podcast.”

“Stewart’s ability to work fluidly between mediums is an enormous plus for Wonkybot,” added Fisher. “In the same way he was able to adapt the Tara Tremendous podcast into a musical feature film currently being developed by Wonkybot and Marc Platt Productions, he has an incredible knack for quickly identifying the heart of a story and reassembling it for whatever medium is called for. His passion for audio and music certainly pays off in the audio content we produce.”

“Whereas other podcast companies have to outsource or license original content from third-parties or hire a recording studio to assemble their shows, Wonkybot is unique in that we create, write, cast, record, edit, produce, score, mix and master all of our shows in-house,” said St. John. “We’re a one-stop shop which gives us a unique advantage in making sure we’re producing the most cutting-edge, highest-quality, cinema-sounding podcasts available to kids and families.”
