APMG's primary operating divisions Minnesota Public Radio, Southern California Public Radio and American Public Media offer multi-regional FM broadcast channels, website, mobile and social media channels, live events, national content creation and distribution. Your Role:

APM Studios is looking for a Production Manager to join the award-winning, best-in-class team behind the podcasts Brains On, Smash Boom Best, Forever Ago and Moment of Um.

The Production Manager oversees the day-to-day production needs for the APM Studios kids’ portfolio, including the existing portfolio and several new podcasts. The role is a critical project management role embedded within the production team. The Production Manager is a problem solver who is organized and action oriented. Working in lockstep with the kids’ team and the Sr. Podcast Production Manager, the Production Manager helps determine the administrative, budgetary and staff resource needs of productions and helps ensure that these are available for production to proceed smoothly.

This role works across departments to support coordination on new show launches and relaunches of existing franchises. The Production Manager creates and oversees the production schedule for new and existing shows, keeps show teams on track and identifies opportunities for improved processes and efficiencies. The Production Manager onboards new team members, shepherds’ contracts, and release forms through the legal process, handles the vendor payment process and books studio space for guests and recording sessions.

Compensation Range: St. Paul $66,101- $99,152 | New York $79,363 - $119,045 | Los Angeles $76,098 - $114,147. This position can sit remotely, and exact salary determined by experience and education related to the role, organizational compensation structure, geographic location, and internal equity.

Your Role:

PRE-PRODUCTION

Manage contracting process with hosts, contract production staff, and any content and production related contracts (music, studio rental, rights, etc.) Create and manage production schedules Create one sheets and show briefs Manage Podcast launch checklist for new show launches and subsequent seasons of existing shows PRODUCTION:

Oversee production schedule and project task lists, keeping project on schedule Communicate timelines with Sr. Podcast Production Manager, Executive Producer and show team(s) Facilitate scheduling changes Act as liaison between producers, cross functional teams, and executive team Manage contract deliverables and timelines Track production budget expenditures Participate in editorial conversations with production teams, as needed to support editorial and content needs. Update editorial release calendars, one sheets, show briefs and production bibles Assisting with production logistics such as booking studios, tape syncs, coordinate shipping of remote equipment. POST-PRODUCTION:

Track post-production deadlines Pursue contract renewals as needed if the series is renewed. Support the Sr. Podcast Production Manager in post-launch tasks, including launch and season debriefs Additional on-going and pan-portfolio responsibilities include:

Serve as SPOC (single point of contact) for the kids’ team Preparing executive reports on show budgets and activities Maintain show release calendar Creating and maintaining efficient workflows across teams and departments. Approve invoices for freelance talent Serve as main point of contact for third-party freelance operations. Provide support as needed to Sr. Podcast Production Manager and Executive Producer Identify potential obstacles and propose timely solutions to production crew Plan, lead, and take notes on weekly meetings with internal teams and sometimes external partners. Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience 4+ years of relevant experience in scheduling, content, media production or project management Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

Strong attention to detail Ability to form strong interdepartmental relationships Ability to work under pressure with talent and internal stakeholders Ability to adjust plans based on variables that are subject to change Understanding of content production processes Ability to always maintain confidentiality and professionalism Organized, efficient, and effective communicator. Proficient in Google and Microsoft especially sheets/pivot tables Ability to learn and adapt quickly Preferred Skills and Experience:

Experience project managing podcast production teams Knowledge of project management tools Budget management experience Experience in talent management Knowledge of the podcast landscape; prior experience in podcast industry a plus Has ideas and isn’t afraid to share them Biased towards action Podcast obsessed Perseverance in the face of production and administrative hurdles.
