Podcast Producer, “Extinction is Here!” (Part-Time)
The Church of Stop Shopping is a longtime NYC-based creative community with a global audience, best known for its inventive activism in earth and human justice campaigns. The Church creates arrest-risking activist events but also performs on the concert stage. The group’s members have purple hearts from Stonewall Inn, Occupy Wall Street, and Black Lives Matter in Ferguson and New York and include a Grammy winner and Tony-nominated actor.
Reverend Billy leads the Church in a new podcast titled “Extinction Is Here Radio.” Already boosting thousands of dedicated weekly listeners, the Church of Stop Shopping nonprofit is seeking a Podcast Producer to help produce and grow the podcast. We strive to create a safe, diverse, and inclusive workplace. We welcome people of all gender identities, races, sexual orientations, physical or mental abilities, ethnicities, religions, ages, and perspectives.
Role
The Podcast Producer will work closely with Reverend Billy and Savitri D, two founders of the Church of Start Shopping, helping to produce a single half-our show each week. The role includes expanding the reach of the podcast by publishing it on new formats, leading on distribution, and promoting the podcast on social media.
Responsibilities
- Expand the current distribution to include websites where politically and environmentally conscious people may pick it up.
- Publish to various podcast platforms (Tic Toc, Twitch, Spotify, iTunes, Stitcher, Google Play, Apple Podcast App, etc.) while providing a clear description of the episode subjects.
- Strategize to involve youth as our listeners. Young people are often the strongest earth justice activists. We have often joined them on the streets.
- Tailor, adapt and edit content for podcast/video/social media. We have sections of the podcast, such as a “News from the Natural World” and “Sounds of Extinction” - which may be adaptable beyond the radio/podcast.
- Promote the podcast on all social media channels and through company email list.
- Assist with guest bookings.
- Upload weekly podcast to REVBILLY.COM website and other client sites.
Attributes
- Experience promoting and producing podcasts.
- Familiarity with social media.
- Familiarity with at least some of the 65 episodes, posted at http://revbilly.com/podcast/.
- Desire to be engaged in our Church of Stop Shopping community.
Location
The podcast is recorded in Brooklyn and we hope you can join us for in-person events. Remote candidates are also encouraged to apply.
Compensation
The podcast producer role will require approximately 15 to 20 hours per week. Compensation will be $3,000-$5,000 per month based on level of experience. The position is on a contract basis from now until the end of the year (with the possibility to extend).
Application Process
Interested candidates should send a cover letter and resume to revbilly@revbilly.com by September 10. Please include “Podcast Producer” in the subject line. Due to the anticipated volume of interest, we regret that we cannot respond to every applicant.
