Press Release ·

This article is at least a year old

Acast, the global power source for podcasting, announced the hire of Jeremy Weiner as Group Business Director for the East Coast today. The Spotify alum will lead the regional sales team, helping brands build authentic connections with engaged consumers through podcast advertising and sponsorship campaigns.

Acast has brought Weiner on board as part of an initiative to streamline operations and further increase revenue from US podcast ad sales. In its most recent quarterly financial report, Acast — now home to 35,000 podcasts — reported strong performance across all markets, but the Americas led the way with 111% growth.

According to IAB projections, podcast ad revenue is slated to break the $1 billion threshold by the end of this year — and grow to $2 billion by the end of 2023.

In this new role, Weiner will further cement Acast as the premier advertising destination for Fortune 500 brands, holding companies, and direct-to-consumer businesses that are eager to tap into the unrivalled levels of engagement offered by podcasts.

“For nearly half a decade, I’ve had a front seat to the evolution of podcast ad buying — and, as media buyers continue to flock to the medium, Acast’s advanced tech and growing portfolio of shows has seen it emerge as the best company around,” said Weiner. “I look forward to bringing my passion and knowledge of the landscape to the Acast team, and to helping brands around the world realise the power of podcasts.”

Prior to joining Acast, Weiner held the role of Senior Client Partner at Spotify and spent three years at Megaphone in its sales division. During his tenure, Weiner saw Megaphone through the Spotify acquisition and played a pivotal role in integrating the Megaphone Targeted Marketplace as well as the launch of the Spotify Audience Network. He was also responsible for driving sales across podcasts, streaming audio, and video products. At Megaphone, he led the organization’s largest regional sales team by headcount and revenue.

Weiner joined Acast in October and will be based out of its New York City office.
