Podcast giant Acast is looking for the next big podcast hit with the launch of Sweden’s largest open podcast competition Poddnästet — giving anyone the opportunity to win a high-quality podcast production and marketing package worth 250 000 SEK.

Acast has seen an increased interest in content creation over the past year and today has 30,000 podcasts in its network. Acast has supported and grown thousands of shows into great successes — including famous Swedish shows such as Wahlgren & Wistam, Brita & Parisa, Spöktimmen, Rättegångspodden, and many more.

Through this national competition, Acast wants to break new ground in the audio landscape by finding new and aspiring talents that can take a place on the Swedish top list Poddindex.

Frida Klevemark, Content Director at Acast, said: “There’s still an incredible amount of unexplored territory in Sweden for creators to take advantage of — with Poddnästet, anyone can fulfill their dreams, regardless of gender, age or background. The winner will be chosen based on the originality of the podcast idea, tonality and quality of the creative idea. Our goal is to identify new creators and formats that have not yet taken the step into the audio sphere, and where there’s potential to grow into the next big podcast sensation.”

The Poddnästet jury consists of representatives from Acast’s marketing and content department, as well as the comedy trio JLC, starring Gothenburg’s Lucas Simonsson, Jonas Fagerström and Carl Deman. Together with Acast, their podcast Mellan Himmel och Jord has grown to become one of Sweden’s largest commercial podcasts.

Lucas Simonsson, host of Mellan Himmel och Jord podcast, said: “Now is the time for the Swedish population to show off their creativity — we know that the next big podcast success is out there somewhere and, with Acast behind them, any creator can succeed. Think big and invest hard, but remember, there is only one Mellan Himmel och Jord podcast!”

Anyone over the age 18 based in Sweden can participate in Poddnästet, and participants can submit competition entries until October 29, 2021. The prize includes eight episodes produced and distributed by Acast, as well as content consulting by Acast’s professional content team, and marketing of the winner’s podcast at launch.
