Producer
A full time position
Fully remote: working with a USA-based team at Our Body Politic.
Salary range: $75,000 to $80,000 (yearly rate) - subject to experience plus plus benefits. Negotiable dependent on experience level and related qualifications.
Our Body Politic was founded in the fall of 2020 with the mission of illuminating how Black women and all women of color use their power as leaders in politics, culture, and civil society. We are seeking an experienced Producer able to do guest and studio bookings, produce interviews and roundtables, which includes story research, question writing, clip gathering, remote studio line producing, and communicating with our guests and their staff. The Producer would also be responsible for cutting audio segments in ProTools, employing a sharp ear for coherence, maximized editorial value, and factual accuracy. Our show covers politics on a regular basis, and a fluency with both domestic and international politics, and with covering race and gender as metanarratives that affect most stories, is key.
We need someone who is willing to bring their own passions to the table and to our air, while recognizing as a collaborative newsroom we value multiple people having input on stories. We need evidence that you can cut compelling two-ways, and welcome the ability to add audio to those. We may start doing some field reporting or acquiring field reporting in the second half of 2022, and ideally you will know how to produce taped field-reported segments, though this is primarily an interview show. We need someone with high organizational skills. You will need to know how to use ProTools and the spreadsheet database platform AirTable or learn it quickly on the job. You’ll report to our Senior Producer.
We’re looking for people who are collaborative; detail-oriented; problem solvers; effective communicators; and kind under pressure (and in general!). Diaspora Farms, the producer of Our Body Politic, is Black woman owned. We have a multiracial team with people from many different backgrounds, all committed to doing our work with respect. We welcome people who are emotionally generous with others, funny, sharp, vulnerable, and adaptable. We are a family-first company, which means many of us are caregivers of different types and we adapt to caregiving cycles, whether it's infant care or eldercare. We don't both-sides on people's humanity, either on-air or off-air.
