Music Radio Producer

We have a vacancy for a full-time producer to work on a high-profile, daily BBC Radio2 show.
The producer will take day-to-day responsibility for the production of the show and continually deliver it to the highest editorial and production standards - developing practical, creative proposals for the content of the show within the framework of the network’s priorities.
Key elements of the producer’s role:
- Plan and produce the show
- Communicate with network teams and keep them informed with show prospects and promotion
- Develop new ideas and formats for the show in line with network strategy
- Attend relevant network meetings
- Direct and creatively develop the presenter
- Operate studios (during live shows and pre-records) including technical decision-making during live shows
- All the above will need to be done whilst upholding BBC values (and Listen’s values)
Who are we looking for? You’ll be someone with producer-level credits on BBC and/or commercial network programming and you will have:
- Excellent communication skills
- A great ability to develop and manage presentation talent
- Already developed skills in editing using Pro Tools, BBC VCS, Audacity and/or Reaper
- A meticulous nature – particularly when it comes to forward planning, booking contributors, writing scripts and delivering paperwork
- A passion for and knowledge of a wide range of subjects from music to arts, current affairs, pop culture and politics
- A self-starter when it comes to making new contacts and maintaining good relationships with network commissioners and talent (and agents)
- An understanding of the importance of health and safety practices and what is required to achieve best practice in this kind of role
- A natural ability to stay calm under pressure
- The kind of personality that means you’re in your element when reacting to fast-changing situations
- A love of radio
- A high-level of technical skills and experience
- Loads of ideas and the ability to articulate them effectively
- An awareness of Ofcom Broadcasting Code
