Salary range: £32,000 to £37,000 (yearly rate) - subject to experience

Intelligence Squared hosts live debates and events, produces podcasts and video content and provides events and audio solutions for businesses. We have established ourselves as the leading forum for live, agenda-setting debates, talks and discussions around the world. Our aim is to promote a global conversation that enables people to make informed decisions about the issues that matter, in the company of the world’s greatest minds and orators.

The company is growing and needs someone with a track record of producing high quality audio to participate in the production of the Intelligence Squared podcast as well as other podcast projects. The Intelligence Squared podcast is the company’s flagship and longest-running podcast. We are looking for a self-starter with ambition, vision, energy and the technical skills to lift the podcast to the next level and expand the core mission of Intelligence Squared – exploring the biggest debates of our time with the world’s leading thinkers. A wide knowledge of current affairs and the ability to understand and represent a range of views is essential. Given the global nature of the Intelligence Squared audience, a familiarity with emerging American trends is highly desirable. Highly polished interpersonal oral and written skills will be key to this role as it will entail pitching to agents and publicists, as well as dealing directly with high-profile talent and speakers.

Responsibilities include a wide range of production tasks, from concept development to the final edit. The producer will pitch ideas, book guests, write scripts, record interviews, edit episodes and work collaboratively with other members of the podcast production team. They will work closely with the Head of Podcasts and be interested in the strategic growth of the podcast arm of the business, embracing targets for audience growth. They will be comfortable recording audio remotely and in the field and proficient in audio editing software. The producer must be able to handle working on multiple projects, including producing reactive news content under tight deadlines. They must be highly organised with a keen eye and ear for detail and a strong work ethic.

This is an opportunity to lead on an already successful, premium podcast network and to take it to a new level.

Requirements:

A track record of securing guests, producing compelling audio content and a flair for mixing audio using appropriate sound effects and music

A firm grasp of national and international news and current affairs

Able to handle all the technical aspects of recording

Able to direct people in recordings

Proficiency in an audio editing software

A strong eye and ear for detail

Able to build and nurture relationships with potential speakers and/or their agents/publicists

Able to work diplomatically with a wide variety of people

This is an initial six-month contract with the hope that it will become longer-term or permanent, depending on performance.
