Chalk & Blade is looking to expand our in-house team by welcoming a Showrunner into the heart of Chalk & Blade productions. This role will be responsible for a new high-profile show for an internationally recognised client, with a particular interest in major global health and social challenges. The successful candidate will have a strong background as a journalist and experience leading podcast productions. The Showrunner will work closely with Chalk & Blade management to establish, run and develop the production team, respond to ongoing client needs, and negotiate with talent representatives. They will be responsible for the editorial direction of the series, upholding journalistic standards and practices, and keeping the production to deadline and on budget.

Chalk & Blade is an award-winning podcast production agency behind the recent chart-topping series, Obsessed With The Line of Duty and Hunting Ghislaine. We’ve worked on inspirational branded shows including Net-A-Porter’s Incredible Women and the United Nation’s Awake At Night, which has racked up over 3 million downloads.

Job Title & Salary Showrunner/lead producer

The contract is for 6 months and the pay for those 6 months is 30K

Location Chalk & Blade is based in London, but we could potentially accommodate hybrid working and out-of-London applicants.

Your Skills and Experience Minimum of 8+ years experience in journalism. Either broadcast, print, or podcasting, including a minimum of 3 years in audio production Able to respond to the client’s brief and goals, translating them into a flexible production plan. The candidate will demonstrate clear communication strategies for working both with the production team and the client. Responsible journalist with demonstrable experience of working ethically and respectfully with potentially vulnerable interviewees Ambitious and reflective journalist with a global mindset finding the best interviewees wherever in the world they are A quality fanatic with attention to detail, comfortable being the final QC sign-off on a show Excellent script writing and editing skills A generous team leader and great communicator with excellent editorial judgement. The candidate should be confident taking ownership of the process and able to bring out the best in the production team Confident working not only with our internal team but also with client stakeholders and a diverse range of potential contributors and hosts and their representatives
