  • PRX strives to be as inclusive, equitable and accessible as possible. The PRX Training Team follows the core tenets of universal design to ensure that all classes, events (virtual and in-person) as well as materials adhere to a baseline level of accessibility for people experiencing blindness or low vision, hearing loss or impairment, and limited movement (e.g. screen-reader compatibility, closed captioning, self-description for inclusive gatherings, etc).

Participants will also receive an accessibility survey upon acceptance into the program, which will help us make accommodations to serve a spectrum of needs and circumstances. As the Google Podcasts creator program accelerator will be held semi-remotely, we are prepared to meet the various challenges that arise in virtual spaces (e.g. “Zoom fatigue,” unstable Internet, disruptions at home, etc) and in physical spaces.

We are committed to creating and fostering a pleasant and safe environment for all our participants. We’re always willing to work with your team to make sure your needs are accommodated.

What is the scope and schedule of the program?

This in-person week will be in late June/early July; a specific date and location will be provided upon acceptance. Travel and lodging expenses will be reimbursed as a part of this program.

  • This is an intensive training program. Hours/week will depend on the podcast and team but you will likely spend, at minimum, 10 hours/week during this program doing some combination of the following: attending online sessions, meeting with your program mentors and industry professionals, completing assignments designed to expand your thinking, producing audio, and giving feedback to other teams.

  • The Google Podcast creator program mentors are global leaders in the industry and their involvement takes many forms. Some will join us to lead workshops, some will sit on creative review panels and give you candid feedback about your show, and some will provide direct mentorship over the course of the accelerator.

  • We will help you set goals for your training. Depending on your needs, PRX will provide support in the form of editorial input and technical assistance plus workshops on marketing, promotion, budgeting, and branding. During the course of the training, you will be deeply engaged in thinking about the audience for your podcast, what it should sound like and how to improve marketing and production. Teams that participate in the program need to be open to change based on the feedback they receive in this training. Shows will be asked to pause production during the program. You will also be working closely with the other teams in the training and supporting each other in the process.
